The Duluth Superior Eco Rotary Club planted 1,000 white pine saplings last year, and this fall they took on the project of bud capping to protect the new growth on the trees. They hiked through the forest on a beautiful fall day and stapled sheets of paper to the new growth on the tops of the small trees to deter deer from eating them.

Members of the Duluth Superior Eco Rotary Club rolled up their sleeves for this year's Dragon Boat Festival in Superior, Wisconsin. Not only did the club volunteer to make sure the recycling bins were periodically emptied out all over the festival grounds; they also competed in the race! Way to go, Eco-Dragons!

Grandma's Marathon is a long-running and beloved tradition in Duluth, and recycling at the event is becoming just as popular a tradition for the Duluth Superior Eco Rotary Club. Despite the dreary race day conditions, Rotary Club members emptied the race recycling bins throughout the day, making sure that race participants and fans were able to recycle.

Our "Shiny Paper Project" is a recycling fundraiser sponsored by the Duluth Superior Eco Rotary. "Shiny paper" is paper coated with clay which makes it weigh more than an average sheet of paper. Some examples of shiny paper include magazines and brochures.
