The Duluth Superior Eco Rotary Club planted 1,000 white pine saplings last year, and this fall they took on the project of bud capping to protect the new growth on the trees. They hiked through the forest on a beautiful fall day and stapled sheets of paper to the new growth on the tops of the small trees to deter deer from eating them.
